essie lady like

You know that one polish you always reach for when you're not sure what you should put on your nails? (Hopefully you said yes to that or this post is going nowhere.) Well in my case, Lady Like is that polish!

Lady Like is from Essie's Fall 2011 collection. (It's an oldie, but a goodie!) Described on Essie's website as "an elegant soft mauve," Lady Like is exactly that but with an extra touch of dusty purple and a generous amount of wonderfulness.

It applies smooth, has just the right amount of sheen, and is easily opaque with one coat. Which is splendid if you're in a rush and don't have time for two coats plus drying time. As for chipping, I leave it on 3-4 days with a top coat and it rises to the challenge. It's a fighter! Or the OPI top coat is. We may never know.

I may be crazy for the color and quality of Lady Like, but I'm even more so for its name. (Tsk tsk. So superficial.) But the name describes the shade to a tee. It's classic and sophisticated, yet feminine too. Sometimes a nail polish is ten times better when it has a clever and fitting name. Is that weird?

Stay classy Lady Like! I'm betting you will.
