the octopus necklace

top: stitches, necklace: ebay

Let's belt out the chorus of "Under the Sea" because this little crustacean only cost $1.31. Now I'll admit that it's cheaply made, and might contain more plastic than actual metal, but c'mon. $1.31! It's still on par with a lot of Forever 21 jewelry. [Which we all know isn't the best, but still lures everyone in like Voldemort to a prospective horcrux.]

This necklace got me thinking about octopi? octopodes? octopuses and I realized a few things:

1. Cartoon depictions of octopuses are adorable.
2. Real life octopuses are terrifying.

3. Necklace versions of octopuses are safe and only slightly realistically frighting.

In conclusion, this piece of jewelry is the middle ground between "awwwe cute" and "damn nature, you scary."
And I'm okay with that.
